I began shooting pictures of birds during a particularly difficult season of life. Struggling with personal anxiety, I took to heart the instructions of Jesus, “Therefore I tell you, do not worry about your life, what you will eat or drink; or about your body, what you will wear. Is not life more than food, and the body more than clothes? Look at the birds of the air; they do not sow or reap or store away in barns, and yet your heavenly Father feeds them. Are you not much more valuable than they?” (Matthew 6:25 f. NIV)
I remember when and where I saw my first Eastern Bluebird. I was thrilled then, and I am still delighted when I see them, more commonly now in my own backyard. They are my favorite bird, and when I see one, I am reminded of the promise of God to care for every bird in all creation which he knows by name. I don’t know this one’s name, but he’s me friend anyway.
